When you add an existing lease contract—that is, a contract that has already started—the application doesn’t know the history of your contract. If your tenant has rent arrears or if you consider it necessary, it’s up to you to rebuild the history in the app.

If you’re not yet familiar with how the balance of your contracts is calculated, here’s an article that explains it.

You can record the arrears in two ways:

1. Add an initial balance

You can add a one-time due amount that reflects the rent arrears your tenant owes when you enter the contract in the application. To do this, add a due amount to your contract and select the "Initial balance" option from the dropdown menu.

  • Advantage: It’s fast.

  • Disadvantage: You don’t have a complete breakdown that explains the arrears to your tenant.

2. Add the full history

From the contract balance, click on Actions and then select Modify history.

You can then specify from when you want to create the payment history.

Next, indicate whether the amounts due have been paid.
