How do I add a unit or a building?

Add your houses, apartments, commercial premises and other rental units in Smovin.

Written by Pauline Marchand

In Smovin, we distinguish units from buildings:

  • a unit is a separately rented home (house, apartment, room in a house share or student accommodation);

  • a building groups several units together (for example an investment building with 3 apartments, or a house split into 5 separately rented rooms).

To start

In the Properties menu, click New property, then choose Unit or Building.

1) Adding a unit

The form is completed in several steps:

  1. Unit owner: choose an existing owner or add a new one.

  2. Associated building (optional): if the unit doesn't belong to a building, click Next. Otherwise, select the already-registered building to link it to.

  3. Unit address: enter the full address, then click Next.

  4. Unit type: select the type from the list. If it isn't there, click Add to create it via the form that opens.

  5. Click Save to finish.

You are then redirected to the unit's page, where you can optionally complete: the description (number of bedrooms, surface area, etc.), photos, financial information (purchase date and price, etc.) and the energy performance certificate.

2) Adding a building

  1. General information: name the building so you can recognise it easily, select its category, enter its address and select the owner(s). If an owner isn't registered yet, add them via Add.

  2. Building structure: organise the building and create the units it is made up of. Click the (+) to add units on the floors. You can customise the type and name of each unit.
