It’s possible that one of your tenant's balances is positive. To avoid missing potential delays, it’s important to verify that the balance is correct.
Here’s a list of the 4 most common cases:
1.The tenant paid for the upcoming month in advance (e.g., August 30th for the rent due on September 1st).
In this case, there’s no issue. The balance will automatically adjust.
2.Presence of duplicate payments: The same payment entered twice—once manually by the user and a second time, automatically generated, because it was captured from the bank account.
3.A payment: Such as a security deposit (or any other payment) that doesn’t have a corresponding due amount in the balance.
4.For slightly positive balances: Overpayments from tenants. Tenants round up their payments (e.g., 356.67 € → 357 €).
To identify cases 2, 3, and 4, go to the payment list of your contract.
To do this, go to the balance of your contract.
Check that no duplicate payments have been added manually.
If you want to make sure this is indeed a payment added manually, you can click on it:
If that's the case, you can delete the ones added manually (they are identifiable by the "Created manually" tag) by clicking on the "..." and then "Delete."
Identify exceptional payments that don’t have corresponding due amounts.
📌 Smovin automatically generates rent and charges, but it’s possible that your tenant reimburses you for other amounts that aren’t in the application. It’s important to add these due amounts manually to keep the balance up to date.
The most common case is the payment of the security deposit to your bank account, but the corresponding due amount "Security Deposit" does not exist in the tenant’s balance. 💡 Don’t hesitate to check payments at the start of the contract.
If that’s the case, add a due amount of type Security Deposit.
